“Some people think leadership development is about perfection. I believe it’s about self-reflection, honesty and choices. As a leader, you have to make decisions every day about how you lead. Knowing that – and owning the responsibility – is the first step toward understanding actions you’ve taken in the past, and the impact those actions have had on others. It will empower you to make more effective choices in the future.” |
How would I describe my development approach? I’d have to say, “pragmatic.” Before starting RVB Associates, I spent much of my career in management and operational positions, primarily in the information technology and financial services industries. I understand the real-world issues managers face each day – I’ve been there myself.
Helpfulness and integrity are at the heart of my methodology. Knowing that the role of leader can be a difficult one, I incorporate hope and encouragement in all my work. And because I realize that people often resist change, I encourage my clients to develop what is realistic, achievable and sustainable in the real world.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping leaders, individuals and teams to identify and overcome obstacles, develop talent, and learn new skills that have allowed them to reach their full potential. It’s a source of great satisfaction and pride for me to know I’ve enabled my clients to achieve a level of success that had previously eluded them. |
